When you think of the best players in the Dutch Eredivisie you might be quick to mention the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Eljero Elia, Lasse Schone, Luuk De Jong among others. However, very few people outside of Holland would put Sam Larsson’s name up there.

For the past two seasons it is safe to say he has been the most consistent and arguably one of the best player in the division. In his debut season, he got off to a flying start with a goal on his debut however he missed a chunk of the season with injuries to his shinbone and thigh. This did very little to prevent him from showing his tremendous quality and great potential. He managed to get  8 goals with 4 assists in only 25 games. This was overshadowed by Memphis Depay amazing season which saw him score an incredible 22 goals and Hakim Ziyech’s heroics with FC Twente.

He then continued his amazing form into the following season in which he managed to score 6 goals and set up 8 assists. As a player who is technically gifted and also a terrific dribbler, he quickly became a real crowd pleaser but also very efficient in the final third.

After his first two seasons, he has now taken his game to another level. This year has been his best season to date in the Dutch Eredivisie and in only 21 games he has already surpassed last year goal tally and matched his assist record from last season. With 7 goals and 8 assists and also a chunk of the season still to play, it won’t be too long till the top European clubs start taking notice.
