Kristiano Samuel Armenteros Nunez Mendoza Jansson commonly known as “Samuel Armenteros” is a player who was once the talk of Dutch football. As a youngster, he was released by SC Heerenveen and was signed by Heracles where he went on to make over 100 appearances scoring 32 goals. His form and exploits in Heracles got him a move to then Dutch champions, R.S.C. Anderlecht. This is when his career stalled and he went from being a player tipped to be a future Swedish international to a Belgian football flop. He would go on to play for Feyenoord and Willem on loan with more success with the latter where he scored 11 goals in 29 games. This was followed by a move to Qarabag in Azerbaijan which was also not a very impressive spell.
However, this year Samuel Armenteros has made possibly the best move in his career so far by going back to Heracles where he made his reputation.
Since his return, he has taken the position of the team’s star striker and everything has been going perfectly so far. We have seen a resurgence in the once talked about striker in Dutch football back to what people expected from him in his younger days. He has managed to score 8 goals this season in 14 league games for his team. This amounts to a staggering of 36% of his team league goals which is only bettered by Willem’s Fran Sol 56% and FC Twente’s Enes Unal with 37%. And, his goals are also proving to match winners.
At this rate it would be tough to see Heracles keep for too long, bigger clubs in the Eredivisie are surely eyeing up this resurging striker. Heracles, the club that gave him his first taste of football stardom are now also the club giving him his rebirth.
