Players to Watch: Leonardo da Silva Lopes

Leonardo da Silva Lopes most commonly known as Leo Lopes is a player who has become the hottest prospect in the English third tier. His manager and Peterborough United’s hierarchy have also accepted their fate that his days at the club are numbered and will look to cash him at the highest price possible.

Portuguese born player who has been impressing scouts everywhere in England. And, a player who is set to follow in the footsteps of the youngster Delle Alli and take the step up early on his career. He first made his name in the youth games for Peterborough United were he showed his incredible skills and athleticism which made him stand out from his peers. And, he carried that on into rhe first team when he made his debut at 16 years old against Crawley Town. And, in the span of the past year he has managed to play in just over 15 games but has already managed to get scouts flock in every game.

This is the reason why during the summer with only handful of games to his name, his manager stated;

Leo is a very good player and he’s been in very good form this summer so I hope I don’t lose him. There have been many clubs watching him and I’m not surprised. He’s strong, he’s athletic and he carries the ball very well,” the Posh manager said

He is a young central midfielder who is not only capable of battling and win 50/50 duels in the midfield but also possess great technical ability to also carry the ball into the final third. Very composed on the ball and very displined in keeping his shape in the formation as well. A player who plays well beyond his age. And, at only 17 years old, he looks to have the potential to become a top player in the future capable of playing at the top level on English football. Future does look bright for this young prospect.
