Enes Ünal is a player who deserves the label of “wonderkid” – a player with world class potential. At the tender age of 19 years old, he has already proven to be one of the best young strikers in Europe and looks set to continue his dazzling start to his career this year in the Eredivisie. Last season, in the Jupiler league, he proved to be a class above everyone else.
In the 11 games he played last season in Holland, he managed an incredible 9 goals in 11 games in the league with NAC Breda. And, this season with FC Twente he has continued his rich vein in form. He is already proving to be too good for the Dutch defences and all at the age of 19 years old.
In terms of playing style, he plays very much like a young Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He is a target man with incredible flair although he doesn’t yet possess the strength and height that works best with this style of play. This is where his awareness of space comes into play -instead of aggresively fighting of CBs for crosses in the box, he plays in spaces just to the side of them. He moves in the channels just in front of the CBs making it hard for them to get close to him. Most of his goals come from this type of movement.
He loves to power his shot rather than place them in the net. This is a another thing that could add to his growing similarities to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. However, in terms of personality Enes Unal is not as outspoken but nonetheless does love to revel in the spotlight. A player whom if he keeps his current rate of development could become a household name in the footballing world.
